We’re looking for motivated individuals to join our project-based team and help us make Sarawak Space Challenge 2025 our biggest and best edition yet!

Project-Based Roles

  • Team Executives and ‘Launch & Closing Event Lead’ require physical availability on specific event dates.
  • Other Team Leads can work virtually, as long as tasks are completed on time.

Available Roles

Team Lead Positions (Remote & Flexible)

Ideal for self-driven individuals who can manage tasks independently, work virtually, and ensure smooth event execution.

1. Secretariat (Admin & Sponsor Relations)

What You’ll Do:

  • Draft and send official letters, sponsorship updates, and partner communications.
  • Maintain sponsor engagement and ensure their deliverables are met.
  • Keep track of important documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate internal team communications.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms).
  • Prior experience in admin, sponsorship, or event planning is a plus.
  • Preferably a Sarawak Space Challenge past participant or volunteer.

2. Registration, Point Management & Merch Sorting Lead

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee participant registration, data tracking, and engagement reports.
  • Develop and manage a gamified point system to increase engagement.
  • Ensure smooth distribution of event merchandise.
  • Generate reports on participant engagement trends.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong analytical & organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using Excel, Google Sheets, or data management tools.
  • Experience in event registration or gamification is a plus.
  • Preferably a Sarawak Space Challenge past participant or volunteer.

3. Roadshow Lead

What You’ll Do:

  • ⁠Plan and coordinate physical roadshows across schools and universities in Sarawak.
  • Manage school outreach, confirmations, and roadshow schedules.
  • Maintain and update the standard roadshow presentation deck and materials.
  • Coordinate logistics such as travel, venue setup, and equipment.
  • Brief the roadshow team and ensure smooth execution during each session.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong event coordination and communication skills.
  • ⁠⁠Comfortable engaging with schools, teachers, and institutional partners.
  • Highly organised and able to manage schedules and logistics across multiple locations.
  • ⁠⁠Familiar with Google Suite and project management tools (e.g. Notion, Trello).
  • Preferably a Sarawak Space Challenge past participant or volunteer.

4. Launch & Closing Event Lead (Must be available in August & October)

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the opening and closing ceremonies, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Oversee venue bookings, AV setup, and participant registration.
  • Coordinate with VIP guests, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Develop a survey to collect event feedback and improve future editions.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong event management & planning skills.
  • Experience in large-scale event coordination is a plus.
  • Ability to handle logistics and work under pressure.
  • Preferably a Sarawak Space Challenge past participant or volunteer.

5. Workshop, Mentor Recruitment & Judging Lead

What You’ll Do:

  • Recruit & onboard mentors including STEM experts, industry professionals, and past SSC winners.
  • Coordinate workshop speakers and support the planning of virtual or physical workshops.
  • Organise mentor briefing to ensure mentors are aligned on guiding teams during the hackathon.
  • Manage judge recruitment and coordinate judging panels for the hackathon and final pitching.
  • Develop and maintain the judging framework,  scoring criteria and evaluation process.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong networking and stakeholder management skills.
  • ⁠⁠Experience in event coordination, recruitment, or programme management is a plus.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable coordinating mentors, speakers, and judges.
  • Preferably a Sarawak Space Challenge past participant or volunteer.

Team Executive Positions (On-Site Required)

Great for students, past participants, or those looking for hands-on event experience.

1. Team Executives (3-4 pax) – Roadshow, Carnival Assistants

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in moderating workshops and STEM sessions, engaging participants effectively.
  • Support roadshow, carnival & logistics, including setup, coordination, and crowd management.
  • Help out with event-day logistics for launch, hackathon, and closing ceremonies, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Handle merchandise sorting and distribution, making sure all items reach the right participants.
  • Contribute to participant engagement tracking and point system management, assisting with data collection and reporting.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Strong communication skills for engaging with students, teachers, and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and able to adapt quickly in fast-paced event environments.
  • Comfortable with event coordination, logistics, and managing on-site tasks.
  • Past Sarawak Space Challenge participants or volunteers are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Bonus Skills: Driving, event organizing, content creation (photo-taking, social media updates).
